Technology Showcase: Solar Innovation

Thursday, November 8th 2012, 8:30am-9:30am PDT 11:30am-12:30pm EDT/ 17:30-18:30 (Paris-Frankfurt)

In deciding what type of solar energy to generate, it is not a question of the best and worst technology, but the most appropriate for a specific project. There is an array of solar options now available at the utility-scale, wholesale, and retail levels, as well as various technologies, for both Photovoltaic (PV) and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP). Employing the most appropriate technology is critical.

Vijit Sabnis, Vice President Technology and Co-Founder of Solar Junction, will share his knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of taking a solar company from pure vision, to commercial success.  As an example he’ll review Solar Junction’s experience and value proposition.

Solar Junction is a commercial-ready manufacturer of the industry’s high-efficiency solar cells and receivers for concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) systems, using multi-junction technology. Solar Junction recently broke its own world record for energy efficiency for a commercial-ready production solar cell, achieving 44% efficiency.

Topics of Discussion will include:

  • Identifying the appropriate technology for a project

  • The most exciting areas for inventors

  • What consumers should know about performance claims
