Supply Chain Transparency and Conflict Minerals

Thursday May 9th 2013, 9:00am - 10:00am PT/ 12:00pm - 1:00pm ET / 6:00pm - 7:00pm Paris

Pursuant to section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, the Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted a rule requiring US companies to disclose the use of conflict minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold) that are “necessary to the functionality or production of a product” originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or adjoining countries.

This new regulation affects 6,000 US and global companies and the SEC estimates initial cost of compliance to amount to $3 to $4 billion[1]. The most affected industries include electronics and communications, aerospace, automotive, jewelry and industrial products. The first reports are due May 31 2014.

During this webinar participants will discuss:

  1. The requirements of the SEC regulation and their implications.
  2. A reasonable level of compliance and internal strategy to abide by the new regulation.
  3. Industry best practices regarding regulation compliance and processes currently in use.
  4. Challenges caused by the regulation to SEC compliant companies.
