A New York Times article reported that Bright Source and SolarReserve’s joint California and Nevada solar thermal storage projects could power “tens of thousands of households throughout a summer evening”. SolarReserve received a $737 million grant from the Department of Energy for their work. The projects are the first to deploy molten salt technology which has already garnered the attention of investors like Google, Good Energies and Chevron.
In this meeting we will examine the success of solar thermal molten salt technology and the characteristics of these projects that make them attractive to public and private investors as well as utilities.
