A New York Times article reported that Bright Source and SolarReserve’s joint California and Nevada solar thermal storage projects could power “tens of thousands of households throughout a summer evening”. The projects are the first to deploy molten salt technology. This technology has already garnered the attention of investors from Google, Good Energies and Chevron while SolarReserve received a $737 million grant from the Department of Energy.

In this meeting we will examine the success of solar thermal molten salt technology and the characteristics of these projects that make them attractive to public and private investors as well as utilities.
