Recently Google invested $168 million in an solar energy power plant in the Mojave Desert in California. Another $280 million worth of investment were made to a fund for SolarCity, to help enable homeowners and businesses in the US, to begin using solar energy to power their homes and buildings.

With further investments for a solar power plant in Brandenburg (Germany) and a total investments in the clean energy sector of more than $680 million, the question, as to why Google appears as a solar power producer should be and will be discussed at the AGRION international online meeting on 11th October 2011.
