Monday, February 21, 8:00am - 9:00am San Francisco / 11:00am - 12:00pm New York / 5:00pm - 6:00pm Paris and Frankfurt

Smart Grid

In recent years there has been a great degree of activity on the supply side of electricity in terms of renewable energies such as solar energy, wind energy, and other alternatives to fossil fuels. The next upswing of activity in electricity will occur on the demand-side. In this meeting we uncover and analyze the market for demand-side emerging technologies for the electric grid. What is the potential of demand-side management technologies and programs? What are the current issues and factors that have limited the adoption of DR solutions? What strategies exist for overcoming these challenges?

Demand-side technologies:

  • What is the promise of enabling technologies for the real-time transmission of data?
  • What are the challenges to DR implementation at the residential level? The commercial? The industrial?
  • What is the role and advancements in automation controls at the distribution level?
  • What is the roll-out of in-home devices or appliances to deploy load curtailment?
  • How will industry, utilities, and new entrants position themselves in this industry?

Models and the market:

  • How do demand reduction programs, technologies, and policies compare in the US, the EU, and Australia?
  • What industry straddling and strategic parterships have/will emerge at the building efficiency - smart grid demand-side intersect?
  • How do we define a proper framework (generic market maturity model, local specifications) to help drive investor decisions surrounding demand response technologies?
  • How does the influence of regulation and legislative policies shape the demand-side market? in the US? in the EU? in developing markets?
