Seeking green jobs

Tuesday September 29, 2009, 7PM-9PM

  • What might be the nature and the skill level requirements for such jobs?  What education is required and from which professional background do green employees come?
  • Which departments would be directly affected?
  • What are the prospects for employment in the renewable energies sector (especially solar)?  In mobility and the transportation industry?  In construction?  In research and development?  In other sectors?
  • How will these jobs be funded:  by business investments? Through other departments?  How can they generate additional revenue for the labor market?  Will it be a matter of subsidized positions, state agents, or federal agents?
  • How can oil and utilities prices impact the flow of job creation in a positive or negative manner? How will household consumption levels be impacted?
  • What are the prospects (and the hopes) for green job creation in Europe and Asia?
  • In the United States, which states could claim to host a significant share of these new jobs?  As the main job creator within the region, will the Silicon Valley substitute hi- tech with cleantech?
  • Will President Obama’s plan to create new green jobs succeed? What are its main points and objectives?
