Wednesday, March 7th, 2012, 8:00am-10:30am San Francisco, 11:00am-1:30pm New York, 5:00pm-7:30pm Frankfurt/Paris
Urban Existing Buildings represent one of the largest markets for cutting energy use through efficient design, construction and operation strategies. Energy is the largest operational expense for a majority of facilities, contributing to at least 30% of the average office building’s expenses. The United States Green Building Council estimates that commercial office buildings use 20% more energy on average than necessary.
Existing campuses that are considering expansion in the near and long term are interested in retrofitting and upgrading their existing buildings so that the load on existing infrastructure is minimized and more capacity is made available for new buildings. Corporations looking into minimizing their global carbon footprint (or reporting to Corporate Sustainability benchmarks) are interested in retrofitting and fixing their buildings and reducing energy costs. Utility companies who are being required to improve their fuel portfolio with more and more renewable energy sources, as well as wanting to produce energy with least cost and carbon are interested in offering incentives for existing buildings in order to accommodate more buildings in their current portfolio and manage them efficiently.
Join us March 7th as we focus on the opportunity to reduce energy costs and increase efficiency in the existing building sector of Green Building.

The Pyramid is one of the country’s most architectural iconic highrise buildings, with peers such as New York’s Empire State Building and Chicago’s Willis Tower. Built in 1972, the 48-story building is home to some of the top-rated companies in the financial world. Recognizing that change was needed to meet San Francisco’s 2007 Green Building Ordinance, AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC, (AEGON) asset manager of The Pyramid and affiliate of Transamerica Pyramid Properties, LLC (owner), embraced a leadership role in sustainability efforts. Quickly mobilizing internal and external stakeholders, AEGON joined with its management team of Cushman & Wakefield, as well as consulting partner, BuildingWise, LLC to help guide its sustainability charge and secure LEED® Gold Certification in 2009 and LEED Platinum Certification in 2011.
