1- Eco-construction
• Brief summary of what constitutes eco-construction
• Building: What is an eco-material? What products are currently available and what others are being researched?
• Energy: the main principles and global state of affairs concerning energy-positive buildings.
• Methodology: How to calculate the total environmental cost including construction, maintenance and use.
• Examples of major eco-construction projects
• How can you integrate eco-construction norms when you are a multi-site industrial company rather than a real-estate developer or builder?
2- Eco-refurbishment
• Can we make old buildings eco-efficient?
• What type of building and under what financial conditions?
• What are the priority tasks and objectives? How do we assess the results obtained?
• What are the political incentives for eco-refurbishing buildings?
• What financial planning is foreseeable, how do you put together a business plan?
• What will be the size of the eco-refurbishment market in the long term?
+ Example of an eco-renovated building (from business plan to quality control)
+ Presentation of a few innovative eco-construction start-ups
3- Assessment and management of buildings
• What are the advances in building management systems?
• Automation
• Smart-grids
4- LEED, HQE… (Standards for green buildings)
What are the specifications of LEED/HQE? What advantages does it bring? What other norms are applied elsewhere in the world?
5- An environmental status for air conditioning?
The generalization of air conditioning in tertiary, commercial and even industrial buildings has increased electricity consumption.
Need management (in a few words): Is air conditioning now seen as a necessary comfort for working in the tertiary or industrial sectors? In what cases is it considered as necessary for wellbeing?
6- Zero-energy buildings
How to manage temperature (and cooling) without having to install air conditioning. Presentation of the different techniques available and focus on the idea of the thermal shield (how it works, materials used, efficiency, cost, standardization…). Can eco-efficient buildings truly and durably cope with the air-conditioning question?
7- The removal of air conditioning in existing buildings, particularly skyscrapers
Can we eco-refurbish old buildings and remove existing air conditioning systems? How to proceed, at what cost and what would the ultimate savings be? Does publicly funded financial aid exist to reduce the cost of this renovation?
