Empowerment of the Consumer in the Energy Market
03/04/2012 5:30-6:30 pm CET (Frankfurt/Paris), 8:30am-9:30am PST (San Francisco) / 11:30-12:30pm (New York)
The energy market place has changed with the new role of consumers as active "prosumers". Energy providers are faced with empowered consumers, who manage their power consumption autonomously and, to a certain extent, even become suppliers for small amounts of energy themselves. More than ever, these consumers are ready for change from their providers and have high expectations in energy supplier services. This online meeting analyzes the "empowerment" of the consumer and its consequences for energy providers and local energy suppliers.
The new role of consumers in the energy market:
- Change of providers: What are the reasons for consumers decision making:
- Prices/ brand?
- Energy management by consumers: the role of smart metering
- Chances and resistances
Answers by energy providers:
- Customer retention measures
- New models for sales and distribution
- Flexible tarifs
- New services?
